Days Mount Meru Climbing Itinerary

Day 1: Arusha to Miriakamba Hut

Begin your journey with a drive from Arusha to Arusha National Park, where your adventure starts. After registration, you’ll trek through lush rainforests, encountering wildlife such as giraffes, buffaloes, and colobus monkeys along the way. The trail leads to Miriakamba Hut (2,514 m), your first overnight stop. Enjoy a warm meal, relax, and prepare for the next day’s ascent.

Day 2: Miriakamba Hut to Saddle Hut

Start the day with a hearty breakfast before trekking through dense forest and alpine meadows to Saddle Hut (3,570 m). The trail offers panoramic views of Mount Meru’s crater and the nearby Ash Cone. Upon reaching Saddle Hut, take an optional short hike to Little Meru (3,820 m) for a stunning sunset view before returning to rest for the summit climb.

Day 3: Summit Day and Descent

Your ascent to the summit begins in the early hours to catch the sunrise at Socialist Peak (4,566 m). The trail is steep and challenging, but the reward is unmatched – sweeping views of Kilimanjaro, the Great Rift Valley, and the crater below. After soaking in the breathtaking scenery, descend back to Saddle Hut for breakfast and continue to the park gate, where your driver will be waiting to return you to Arusha.
